« I stopped, amazed, in front of the astonishing pink granite rocks, measuring four hundred metres, strange, tortured, eroded by time, bleeding in the last lights of dusk and adopting different forms, resembling fantastical characters from a fairy tale, petrified by supernatural powers. »
Guy de Maupassant
This is how Guy de Maupassant described the Calanques of Piana, majestic, grandiose and fascinating.
When you pass the beaches of Sagone and Cargèse le Grecque, it is possible, first of all, to access the village of Piana, famous for the startling contrast between its houses and the pink granite which surrounds it and for its traditional procession, Granitula, every Good Friday.

After leaving Piana, you will discover the famous and fabulous Calanques, after which the road descends towards Porto, the famous seaside resort.
From its enclosed port, you may sail to the Bay of Girolata, a fishing village only accessible on foot or by the sea.
If you continue to Girolata, you will reach the peninsula of Scandola, a nature reserve of 1,000 ha, home to an outstanding collection of fauna and flora (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982):

Inland offer yourself a trip to the mountain villages: Marignana (the poet’s village), Evisa, Vico with the convent of Saint François (12th century) and its festival Sorru in Musica, Murzo and its honey fair, or Soccia, the departure point for excursions to the Lake of Creno...
Of course, do not forget the town of Ajaccio only 25 km south of the Gulf of Liscia.
The destination « West Corsica » reveals the assets and contrasts of a preserved and wild environment.
A living and welcoming land, which men and women love, manage, preserve and develop for the benefit of all.
